12sided cylinder
The cylinder is standing oblique at an angle of 54° to the surface of the earth and is parallel to the earth axis facing north. These are the basic conditions for a sundial to work.
12seitiger Zylinder
Der Zylinder steht schräg mit einem Winkel von 54° zur Erdoberfläche, und zeigt erdachsparallel nach Norden. Dies sind die Grundvoraussetzungen dafür, dass eine Sonnenuhr funktionieren kann.
centre of cylinder
In the center is the staircase placed, that is also load bearing construction for all essential equipment and installations (wires and tubes). The postion for this kernel has to be exactly in the center, so the sunlight can shine along it at noon.
Zylindermitte
In der Mitte befindet sich die Leitertreppe. Diese Treppe ist gleichzeitig Tragkonstruktion für alle notwendigen Möbel und Installationen. Die Leitungen und Rohre laufen in ihr entlang. Die Position für diesen Kern muss genau die Mitte sein, da so das Licht der Sonne noch genau daran vorbeischeinen kann, wenn es Mittag ist.
glazed slit
Exactly from the south to the north the building is traversed by a glazed slit. This enables the exact determination of noon. If the sun stands at its peak, it shines through the house.
Glasschlitz
Genau von Süden nach Norden wird das Gebäude von einem Glasschlitz durchzogen. Dies ermöglicht die genaue Bestimmung des Mittags. Steht die Sonne am höchsten scheint sie genau durch das Haus.
glazed ring
The glazed ring is running round the house. The windows are equiped with sliding shutters and unlike the glazed slit they can be opened. The glazed ring is parallel to the equator-plane, what indicates the ecliptic on the sky to the inhabitant and makes it possible to observe the pathes of sun and moon.
Glasring
Der Glasring legt sich um das Haus. Die Fenster sind mit Schiebeläden versehen und im Gegensatz zum Glasschlitz zu öffnen. Er liegt genau parallel zur Äquatorebene, das wiederum ermöglicht dem Bewohner die Ekliptik am Himmel zu finden, und die Bahne von Sonne und Mond zu beobachten.
extending triangle
The extending triangle lengthens the faces of the 12side, that are necessary for the earliest sunrise (4 a.m.) and the latest sunset (8 p.m.) in june.
herausstehendes Dreieck
Das herausstehende Dreieck verlängert die Seiten vom 12eck, die für den maximalen Sonnenaufgang (4 Uhr) und Sonnenuntergang (20 Uhr) im Juni benötigt werden.
plinth
The plinth acts as projection surface for the shadow of the house and becomes the clock face. A visitor can read the time form it.
Bodenplatte
Die Bodenplatte dient als Projektionsfläche für den Schatten des Hauses und wird so zum Zifferblatt. Auf ihr kann ein fremder Besucher die Zeit ablesen.
